The Royals

Tomorrow Real Madrid is coming. Of course I already got my ticket for the game (I think I was the first of all )

Anyway in my opinion we are going to see a very defensive playing team from Hannover (like we always do). At todays training session the following team was playing together. I´ll guess that those guys are the first 11 for tomorrow.

Goalkeeper: Enke

Defense: Cherundolo, Kleine, Zuraw and Tarnat

Midfield: Pinto, Huszti , Bruggink, Jankov, Balitsch

Forward: Hanke

Hannover : Glasgow Rangers (friendly) 17/07/07

Before the new Bundesliga season 07/08 starts Hannover 96 host two very attractive friendlies. One against Rangers and the second against Real Madrid on 31/07/07 .

Not able to catch the subway home and to be back on time (thanks to the broadcaster) I went directly to stadium. On my way I met two Rangers supporters and we started talking about our teams, derbies and the upcoming game.

After they bought their tickets (they were very surprised about the cheap price and that the arena was not sold out) we had some beers at the Maschsee near the stadium.

After a while I showed them where the guest block is and I went on to my (home) block N7.

First half of the game was really boring because both teams were playing with a very defensive tactic. I wasn´t surprised, because Hannover 96 always plays like that, but I expected a much more aggressive Scottish team.

After several changes in the half time the game got better. In the middle of the second half our new player Sergio Pinto luckily scored the final goal.

It was a poor game but better than no football at all (I take all what I can get in those days ;-)).

Greetings to my Scottish friends it would be great to welcome you again in Hannover

Sparkassen Cup (friendly)

The Sparkassen Cup is a friendly cup with the four best teams from the state Lower Saxony(Niedersachen). The AWD Arena host the Cup.

Besides Hannover 96 and VFL Wolfsburg out of the 1. Bundesliga, Vfl Osnabrück (2.Bundesliga) and Eintracht Braunschweig from the third devision took part.

In the first game Hannover 96 fighted the old rival Eintracht Braunschweig. The hostility between both team is a lot older than me and the game is one of the most exiting derby's.

The action started even before kick-off.

The derby got lost by a penalty for Eintracht and many disapointed Hannover supporters left the arena even before the other games started. The second game VfL Wolfsburg won in a penalty shoot out against Vfl Osnabrück.

With the 2:0 victory against Osnabrück, Hannover finished the cup as third.

At the end the supporters weren´t really interested in the final between Vfl Wofsburg and Eintracht Braunschweig. So the fans from Vfl Osnabrück came over in our block and we partied through the final that was won by Wolfsburg.

Back home

Back home in Germany the visit of the five pending games of Hannover 96 in the second half of the Bundesliga 2006/2007 were an absolute must for me.

The results are:

Hannover 96 1 : 0 Borussia Mönchengladbach
Mainz 05 1 : 2 Hannover 96
Hannover 96 2:0 Cottbus
Arminia Bielefeld 3 : 1 Hannover 96
Hannover 96 0:3 Nürnberg

Futbol en Mexico 2

Further I visited several other stadiums in Mexico. Such as La Corregidora (Queretaro),Jalisco (Guadalajara), Victoria (Aguascalientes) and Azteca (Mexico City).

The most famous of them is the Azteca stadium. Two of the five teams from Mexico's capital are playing in this arena with a total capacity of 101000. One of them is the Club America better known as "Las Aguilas" (The Eagles). The second team is called Atlante a lot smaller and less popular one.

The Azteca in all its "beauty" two hours before kick-off

At least one time per season the stadium is sold out when Mexico`s most popular game "El Clasico" between America and Chivas from Guadalajara is coming up.

For my trip with my colleagues I choose the game America against Atlas the second team from Guadalajara. The game was part of the Leguilla Aperatura 2006. The eagles already had won the first of two games by 1:3 and so we did not arrive with high expectations.

Supporter of the "Aguilas"

In the first half Atlas was the better team and scored three goals in a raw. The away supporters went crazy but the rest of the crowed were quite depressed. This score meant that America would not qualify for the next round.

Fighting back in the second half America scored three goals and turned the game around. At the end we had seen a very good game and experienced the great atmosphere of the Azteca and its supporters.

During my stay in San Luis Potosi (Mexico) I watched many home games of the the local team Club San Luis Potosi. First they played in the Primera A (2.Liga) and later in the Primera Nacional (1.Liga).

Homeground of San Luis the "Alfonso Lastras Ramirez" stadium

The best season of the "Club" was the Clausura 2005 were the team qualified for the "liguilla" and lost the final against Pachuca and with this the Mexican championship.

La hinchada de San Luis (2006)

Best games in 2007 were the victories against Cruz Azul (Mexico City) and Chivas (Guadalajara) in a sold out stadium during the Clausura.
